VIVA CARSON Tongue-in-cheek poster for
an imagined retrospective of the work of David Carson. Based on a famous “musica viva” poster by Swiss grid-master Josef Müller-
Brockmann, the poster calls to mind the near hysteria surrounding the legibility debates of the 1990s and the perceived assault on the sacred cows of Modernism and the International Style. It also playfully references Carson’s idiosyncratic word breaks and letter spacing. And the project was a great way to engage with Müller-Brockmann’s work on a detailed level.
