SJSF Infographic comparing daily temperatures in San José and San Francisco, California, over the course of a year. It shows the high and low for each city for each day, as well as daily precipitation, and the average high and low for each city for the year. I let color tell the story, basing my gradient on actual color temperature and pushing everything else back with grays and black (which, of course, also helps the colors pop). The main motif / informational-conceit that runs throughout the piece is the designation of San José with a square, San Francisco with a circle. I played with this in the title graphic, merging it with the symbol for degrees, thus building a legend of sorts into a hopefully zippy graphic idea. The basic information was originally drawn from a comma-delineated file, but I decided to build this sucker entirely by hand. Yikes. I don’t know that I’d do that again, but I am pleased with the result. Actual size: 58 by 23 inches.
